Full Review

Tickmill scores 80.3 out of 100 and positions itself squarely as a low-cost ECN broker for active traders. Raw spreads from 0.0 pips, a $6/lot round-turn commission (among the lowest available), and no inactivity fees make it attractive for scalpers and day traders. The trade-off is a limited instrument range (~600) and a relatively young brand (founded 2014). For traders who care about cost above all else, Tickmill punches above its weight.

Trading Costs at 90 is the standout. Tickmill's Raw account combines 0.10 pip average spreads with a $6/lot commission, making it one of the cheapest brokers to trade with. Platforms at 75 is lower because cTrader isn't available, and the TradingView commission is slightly higher ($7/lot).

Regulation & Safety

Regulator Tier License Entity
FCA (UK) Tier 1 717270 Tickmill UK Ltd
CySEC (Cyprus) Tier 2 278/15 Tickmill Europe Ltd
DFSA (Dubai) Tier 2 F007663 Tickmill Ltd (DIFC Branch)
FSCA (South Africa) Tier 2 49464 Tickmill South Africa (Pty) Ltd
FSA Seychelles Tier 3 SD008 Tickmill Ltd

FCA as the Tier 1 anchor, supported by CySEC and DFSA. The Seychelles entity offers higher leverage (up to 1:1000) for international clients. Negative balance protection, segregated funds, and investor compensation (up to EUR 20,000 for CySEC clients) are provided.

Founded in 2014, Tickmill is younger than most competitors. That's reflected in the regulation score, but 12 years of clean operation with FCA licensing is still meaningful.

Trading Costs

Spreads

Pair Raw Avg. Classic Avg.
EUR/USD 0.10 pips 1.60 pips
GBP/USD 0.50 pips 2.00 pips
USD/JPY 0.30 pips 1.60 pips

Raw spreads compete directly with IC Markets, Pepperstone, and FP Markets. The Classic account spreads are wide (1.60 pips EUR/USD) and only make sense for traders who strongly prefer no-commission pricing.

Commissions

  • Classic: $0 per lot
  • Raw: $6 per lot round-turn ($3 per side)
  • TradingView Raw: $7 per lot round-turn

The $6/lot on the Raw account matches FP Markets as the cheapest in our review, $1 less than IC Markets (MT4/MT5) and Pepperstone at $7.

Other Fees

  • Inactivity fee: None
  • Deposit fees: Free
  • Withdrawal fees: Free

Zero inactivity, zero deposit fees, zero withdrawal fees. The cleanest fee structure among the brokers we review.

Trading Platforms & Tools

Tickmill offers MT4, MT5, TradingView, and its proprietary Tickmill Trader.

MT4 and MT5 are the core platforms, with standard implementations. No cTrader. TradingView integration is available but costs an extra $1/lot in commission compared to the standard Raw account.

Tickmill Trader is a newer proprietary platform aimed at simplifying the trading experience.

API trading and VPS hosting are available. Copy trading through Pelican Trading integration.

The instrument range is the main limitation: around 600 instruments, with 62 forex pairs. That's adequate for forex traders but pale compared to IC Markets (2,250+), CMC Markets (12,000+), or IG (17,000+).

Final Verdict

Tickmill does one thing really well: low-cost ECN trading. If your priority is paying the absolute minimum in spreads and commissions, Tickmill's Raw account at $6/lot is the cheapest raw spread option in our review (tied with FP Markets). And the zero-fee approach to inactivity, deposits, and withdrawals means no surprise charges.

The limitations are market access and education. 600 instruments won't satisfy multi-asset traders, and beginners won't find much learning support. But for forex-focused scalpers and day traders who already know what they're doing, Tickmill offers excellent value.

It ranks #5 for low spread brokers and #3 for scalping.
